Fusion GPS/Steele Dossier
Fusion GPS is a corporate research and investigations firm, led by former Wall Street Journal report Glenn Simpson. Fusion GPS was originally hired by The Washington Free Beacon to produce opposition research during the Republican primary campaign. It was subsequently retained by Mark Elias, the lawyer for both the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign, during which time it hired Christopher Steele to compile intelligence reports. Steele ultimately compiled what is known as the Steele Dossier, which outlines a series of allegations regarding the conduct of both the Trump campaign and the Russian government leading up to and during the 2016 presidential election.
