Donald Trump Jr.
Donald Trump, Jr. has been deeply involved in running The Trump Organization and was a key figure and surrogate during the 2016 campaign.
Since 2008, Trump Jr. has visited Moscow at least six times in search of new business deals, and in 2008 told a Russian newspaper that “Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of [the Trump Organization’s] assets.” Trump Jr. also attended the Miss Universe pageant in Russia and has a relationship with the Agalarovs that predates the campaign. His interest in documents that claimed to contain incriminating evidence regarding Hillary Clinton’s relationship with Russia led to the June 9, 2016, meeting in Trump Tower. He testified before congressional investigators in September 2017 regarding the June 9 meeting, where he denied collusion with Russia. As the news broke of the June 9 meeting, Trump Sr. reportedly played a role in shaping Trump Jr.’s misleading response to the press, which brought on accusations of obstruction of justice from the media; Mueller’s team is reportedly investigating the possibility that Trump may have “made a ‘knowingly false statement’ when he crafted his son’s response. Trump Jr. also gave a speech in Paris in October 2016 at an event hosted by a pro-Russian think tank, for which he was paid $50,000. (Photo credit: Saul Loeb / Getty Images)
